This is the final newspaper ad. From our drafts we asked people which one they preferred and this was the one they liked so we chose this one
The image that I thought I would make prominent was the triangle as it is linked with the illuminati and freemasonry as it was said that it represents their everlasting power. As these once hidden society's are now in the limelight an nearly everyone knows about then so I came up with idea to almost melt and distort the triangle to symbolize there society's falling apart as some secrets like their identity are out.
The text used in this adverts is the same text used throughout our three tasks, the text was created using Dafont this site allows you to choose many font but we thought that this font was the best as it wasn't playful but serious which went well with our advertisement and subject of the documentary.
QR (Quick Response)
QR Code (abbreviated from Quick Response Code) is the trademark for a type of matrix barcode (or two-dimensional code) first designed for the automotive industry. More recently, the system has become popular outside of the industry due to its fast readability and large storage capacity compared to standard UPC barcodes. The code consists of black modules arranged in a square pattern on a white background. The information encoded can be made up of four standardized kinds of data e.g. numeric, alphanumeric, byte/binary, or through supported extensions, virtually any kind of data.

We created one of these QR's for our newspaper advertisement to make it more interactive for the audience. We found a QR creator on a website called http://qrcode.kaywa.com/
This is what the website looks like you then add you web address or text or images into the the section where it says content, in this case I am going to add a website.
I will then press generate for it to create my QR.

This is my QR.
Newspaper Advert text
The text for our newspaper advert we found off Dafont.com which gives us a variety of fonts, I decided that I was going to use the font that we featured in our documentary which was called 'Archeologicaps'
This is what the text looks like, we liked the text as it wasn't playful and was serious which suited our documentary and would go well on our advertisement.

We will have one prominent image along with a title, and then we will have on the bottom the channel it will be on, the time, quotes from newspapers, a QR ( a barcode which can be scanned by smart-phones which direct you to an image, text or a website etc.) and ways to comment on our documentary by having Twitter and Facebook symbols in the bottom. conrner.
Newspaper Advert conventions
Since newspaper adverts have been created there has always been conventions that have come with it, me and my group have to stick to some of these conventions in order to get the best response from an audience.
These conventions are:
These conventions are:
- Image- The image must be relevant to the subject being advertised e.g. if you advertising food, then there may be a picture of what the food may look like, or the city where it originated.
- Logo- Of the company e.g. channel 5, Mcdonalds, Channel 4
- Slogans- Slogans don't necessarily have to be used but have been a very good way of caching audiences attention as it may stick in their head, so they will remember the advert which is exactly what the advert wants the audience to do.
- Description- The description is usually about the subject being advertised, such as films. They would give a brief description of the film but not to much, only enough to catchy the audience attention.
Newpaper Advert history
Newspapers adverts have been used in publications since the late 1830s, 70/80% of of newspapers revenue comes from advertising. The main idea behind newspapers allowing there publication was so that as they were getting a lot of revenue from advertising so they could lower there prices which means it increases the customer base.
This is a newspaper advert from the late 1830s/1900s as you can see it is very basic, it says exactly what it is advertising 'AMERICAN CIRCUS' it doesn't have any gimmicks, slogans etc. You can see that is has been drawn and then printed as you can see the strokes from a pen, even after it has been printed.
You wouldn't see an advert like this in this age, as you can see it is very old and outdated and today's consumer is a lot more demanding and need catchy slogans and images for them to show any interest, if there was an advertisement like this in a publication nowadays it would get no audience.
By the 1930s printed images were changed to black and white photos, this was only possible due to technological advances in the production of photographs, this made it cheaper for newspaper companies to use.
Advances in advertisements were also made as people started adding more text like catchy slogans, to catch more people attention to increase their customer base and it also gave more to look at instead of basic one picture and one piece of text.
By the 21st century newspaper adverts started to decline in National newspapers due to advances in the Internet and TV channels such as Sky and ITV and there websites, convergence played a big part as they could get to there consumer base a lot easier. Smaller companies such as The Metro and Express and Star still use newspaper advertising as major a income to keep the paper running. The most common advertisements to be found in these newspapers are more likely to be blockbusters in cinemas or exclusive television shows.
